Mr. Johnson’s practice focuses on protecting technology-based assets of Firm clients, including counseling with regard to and analyzing both offensive and defensive positioning considerations. Startup venture representation opportunities have allowed Mr. Johnson to undertake extensive searching and analysis of third-party patent positions, and to draft, file, and prosecute patent applications to establish a patent portfolio for the startup venture to facilitate the development of business relationships with more established entities or to posture the startup venture for acquisition. Mr. Johnson also has significant experience with drafting, filing, and prosecuting patent applications for clients with longstanding and substantial patent portfolios. Freedom-to-operate work, patent infringement/patent validity analysis and opinion work, and technology agreements round out Mr. Johnson’s practice.
Representative technologies of Mr. Johnson’s practice over his career include power injectors for medical imaging applications, computer disk drives, microelectromechanical devices and related processing, aerospace systems/devices, orthodontic appliances, air bag inflators, can design/production, and extracorporeal blood processing systems.
